Free, easy 4-mile loop beginning and ending at Main Street School at 101 Main Street, Irvington. Enjoy the mostly level, shaded walk in one of the most storied sections of the Aqueduct. Learn about the remarkable Villa Lewaro, the estate of Madam CJ Walker, the African-American entrepreneur who was America’s first female self-made millionaire. Walk the grounds of Lyndhurst Mansion, country home of notorious robber baron, Jay Gould and location site for HBO’s “The Gilded Age.” Along the way, we will talk about the history of the Aqueduct, the origins of the village of Irvington and Washington Irving’s fascinating connection with the village.

Four miles total, the walk is approximately 2 hours.

Directions
Train: Metro-North Hudson Line stops at Irvington. From the train station, walk up Main Street to Main Street School.
Driving: Navigate to 101 Main Street, Irvington, NY.
Parking: Street parking on Main St. is limited to 2 hours. There is additional 6-hour parking on the side streets. There is also unrestricted parking available on Dow’s Lane next to the Aqueduct (near the ball fields). From Dow’s Lane walk north on the Aqueduct trail for ½ mile.

Required: Pre-registration (limited number).
