You've been asking us to do this. Now it's happening.

NY State Parks Taconic Region has approved the Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct’s application to repair and rebuild much of the lower part of the Keepers House Porch.

The Friends have budgeted up to $30,000 for the repairs that are scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day. This major investment is 100% FOCA funds. It will address the problems of collecting water and wood rot with improved design and water-resistant mahogany for the decking and the lower pillars that have rotted badly.

Water from the roof is unavoidable due to the Keepers House 1856 design, roof sagging over 168 years combined with today’s intense rains. The strength and water resistance of the new mahogany should wear better and well, long into the future for this historic, active public use building that was originally built as a single family home.

The historic preservation architect firm is Steven Tilly Architect of Dobbs Ferry. Long established Dobbs Ferry family firm, Keiling Con truction Inc., is the contractor.

Please help us with this major and unavoidable expenditure. Your donations are critical for projects like this.
