Ossining Girl Scouts Clean Up

I had the truly wonderful experience of picking up wet garbage along the Trail in Ossining on a soggy day last week.

Why was it so wonderful? Because I got to do it with these cheerful Ossining Girl Scouts who showed up in the rain with a can-do attitude, a sense of curiosity and joy in the opportunity to make the trail a better place for everyone, and the inspiration to collect everything in reach from the beginning to the end of our section, no matter how gross it was.

As a park employee, I’m inspired by these kids, their amazing scout leaders, and all the parents who are instilling a sense of responsibility to simply help out when you can. To some, that’s just a bag of trash. To me, it’s a symbol of everything that is right and good in the world. These are the people who make communities cleaner, safer, and stronger. Thank you to the Girl Scouts of Ossining!
