The Croton Dam

The dam you see today was part of the second wave of building and not part of the original Old Croton Aqueduct.

The original Croton Dam was built on the Croton River between 1837 and 1842, and was the first substantial masonry dam in the United States. It now lies submerged under the New Croton Reservoir.
