Tour of the Highbridge Tower

The Highbridge Tower was completed in 1872 to help meet the ever-increasing demands on the City’s water supply system. The 200-foot octagonal tower and its 47,000 gallon tank was created to add more gravitational energy to the water to get it to more elevated neighborhoods and taller buildings.

You will find on-street parking near 173rd St. On transit, take Metro North to Marble Hill, then take the 1 subway to 168th, walk 5 blocks north and 2 blocks east to Highbridge Park. Meet our NYC Urban Park Ranger at the base of the tower at 1:30
