Van Cortlandt Park to High Bridge Walk
Joint Walk with Urban Trail Conference, following the path of the Old Croton Aqueduct
Meet in either of two locations at 11 am: take the local No. 1, IRT, to the last stop in the Bronx, 242nd St. and meet downstairs on the park side of Broadway OR meet at the first parking lot (free) of the historic 1902 Van Cortlandt Park (VCP) golf course. An easy 5-mile, one-way walk from VCP to the High Bridge, walking in the footsteps of Edgar Allan Poe as we explore the social, literary, and engineering history of the Aqueduct. On the Bridge we will enjoy the views and marvel at the engineering feat completed in 1848. At the end of the walk, we will return to VCP (or other destinations) via the local No. #1, IRT. Inquiries: Sara Kelsey, firstname.lastname@example.org or 646-303-1448. Co-leaders: Stephen DeVillo and David Bernstein.
