If you were walking along the OCA trail in Ossining in the 1840s, you would see an expanding prison facility when you got to the place that is now Edward Street. In the 200-year history of Sing Sing Prison, over 600 people were executed there before capital punishment was abolished. This program explores the circumstances of 3 individuals who met this sad fate.

The executions at Sing Sing Prison were always newsworthy. Ossining Historian Joyce Sharrock Cole will explore three women, their crimes, and their execution via Sing Sing's infamous electric chair. Above all, you'll leave with an understanding of why the lights went out in Ossining in this true crime mystery.

This program was organized by the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Space is limited.
