The Croton Aqueduct in the Bronx

Wednesday, April 12, 2023 - 12:00pm

Join Bronx native, Michelle Pollack, and Director of Education for the Bronx Historical Society, Roger McCormack, for a fun and informative tour of the Croton Aqueduct in the Bronx. Our walk will begin at Poe Cottage, the former home of Edgar Allan Poe, with a brief talk by Mr. McCormack about the life of the poet, who was thought to enjoy the occasional ramble on the Aqueduct. We will then walk along the Aqueduct Walk to the High Bridge. Along the way, we will talk about the surprising connection between Batman and Poe Park, the rich history of the Grand Concourse and the many incarnations of the incredible Kingsbridge Armory. The walk will take us across the High Bridge and into Highbridge Park in Manhattan.

Meet at Poe Cottage (2640 Grand Concourse, Bronx, 10458) at noon. Walk is a mostly level three miles and will end at the Highbridge Recreation Center (2301 Amsterdam Ave. NY) at approximately 3PM.
